Board of Directors

Patrick G. Lynn
Executive Chairman
Before joining Satoris, Mr. Lynn was co-founder and CEO of Rinat Neuroscience (a Genentech spinout in 2001 and Pfizer acquisition in 2006).  Prior to Rinat, he was a founding member and Director of an early stage healthcare venture fund with a focus on the medical device industry.  In this capacity, he served on the Board of Directors of Spinal Concepts, which was subsequently sold to Abbott Laboratories. Prior to this, he was with Coopers & Lybrand for 5 years as a management consultant working with biotechnology and medical device companies in the areas of strategic planning, finance and M&A activity. Mr. Lynn began his career as a product development leader at Microgenics, a medical diagnostics company. Mr. Lynn earned his B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and his M.B.A. from Cornell University.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Richard Bastiani
Board Member
Dr. Richard Bastiani is the former Chairman of ID Biomedical, and currently serves as Chairman of Response Biomedical Corporation (CDNX: RBM) and is also Chairman of Pathwork Diagnostics, which provides genomics based oncology diagnostics. He has an impressive track record in the life sciences industry with considerable operational expertise in developing and commercializing innovative technology, and building successful businesses. Dr. Bastiani has served on the board of Abaxis Inc, which specializes in point-of-care diagnostics, since September 1995. He is a director and co-founder of DiscoverRx, which is focused on high-throughput screening and proteomics products for pharmaceutical drug discovery. Previously, Dr. Bastiani was President of Dendreon, a biotechnology company developing cell-based therapies for treatment of cancer, until September 1999. For approximately 25 years, Dr. Bastiani held a number of positions, including President, of Syva Company in Palo Alto, California.

Thomas Gutshall
Board Member
Mr. Gutshall is presently Chairman of Cepheid, a company he co-founded and served as its first CEO. He was formerly President and COO of CV Therapeutics in Palo Alto. Prior to joining CV Therapeutics in 1995, he was Executive Vice President at Syntex Corporation and a member of the Pharmaceutical Executive Committee. His responsibilities included Syva Company, Syntex Agribusiness, Pharmaceutical and Chemical Operations and Services, Syntex Pharmaceutical Intl. Ltd., and Environmental Health and Safety. Mr. Gutshall also serves as a Director of CV Therapeutics and Metrika.

John Reher
Board Member
John M. Reher has been president and executive director of Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure, Inc(ABC2) from 2001-2006. ABC2 is a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies for treatment of brain cancer by employing venture principles to this philanthropic endeavor. Mr. Reher previously had over twelve years of venture capital experience, as a general partner and co-founder of Medicus Venture Partners, an early stage healthcare venture partnership, with investments including Biosite
Diagnostics, Inhale Therapeutic Systems (now Nektar), Tularik, and other successful companies. Before entering the venture industry in 1989, Mr. Reher held financial, marketing, licensing, acquisitions and overall team leader positions for Genentech (1982-1989) and G.D. Searle Pharmaceuticals (1974-1981).

Tony Wyss-Coray, PhD
Co-Founder
Dr. Wyss-Coray is Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University. He has a PhD in Immunology from the University of Bern, Switzerland and has been at Stanford since 2002. He conducts research to understand how nerve cells degenerate with aging and disease and how the brain reacts to this neurodegeneration with a special emphasis on Alzheimer's disease. The research hopes to arrive at a better understanding of the role of aging and genetic or environmental factors to design more effective therapeutics.

Cris McReynolds
President & CEO
Cris McReynolds has worked in the diagnostics business for over 30 years, holding business and corporate development positions within a number of diagnostic and biotech firms, including Syva and Syntex, Triton Biosciences, and Genelabs.  He was an early member of the management team at Cepheid , with responsibility for developing and implementing Cepheid’s partnering and commercialization strategies over a seven year period.  Most recently he served as Vice President of Business Development within the Molecular Diagnostics business unit of Affymetrix, establishing and managing a number of strategic development and commercialization partnerships focused on the diagnostic application of genomic array technology.
